Pistons: After an awful sports weekend got awfuller with the Lions’ latest collapse and the Pistons’ inexplicable blowout loss against one of the NBA’s worst teams, there was finally some good news in Mittendom late Sunday: Antonio McDyess will re-sign with the Pistons. Though no one’s saying exactly when he’ll rejoin the team, he should be eligible in a little more than a week: he was traded on November 3, and there’s 30-day waiting period before a traded player can re-sign with his old team.
If the Pistons become a force this season, it will be in part because their bench is dominant. But lately it’s been shaky, and last night in Minnesota, Detroit’s reserves gave up an 11-2 run to start the second quarter. McDyess’ steady hand and proven, reliable scoring touch should be a big help.
UM football: The Ohio State game apparently didn’t deter Michigan’s football recruiting efforts. They picked up a four-star DB recruit from Florida today.
Wings: Hockey is not the Mitten’s specialty, but it bears pointing out that the Red Wings won their fifth straight game Saturday and do not deserve to be lumped in with all this talk of a disastrous sports weekend.
