Today’s High Five:
- KJ at the Spartans Weblog has a great post analyzing MSU basketball’s turnover woes thus far this season. Backup point guard Korie Lucious has made several great plays, but he’s also struggling to take care of the basketball.
- Here’s a Seattle Mariners’ blogger’s take on a potential J.J. Putz-to-Detroit trade. A month ago, the same writer was hoping for Brent Clevlen or Matt Joyce for Putz — another sign that if a Joyce-and-Jeff Larish-and-maybe-someone-else trade for Putz is gaining momentum, it might not be the best deal for the Tigers.
- Need4Sheed breaks down Detroit’s humbling loss to the Wizards in Antonio McDyess’ non-triumphal return to the Pistons. The Wizards improve to 4-15 with the win; Detroit lost an early 15-point lead.
- If you’re looking to scout Georgia in advance of the Capital One Bowl, this blog is a great resource. Like MSU, Georgia’s assistants are candidates for head coaching jobs elsewhere. But while Pat Narduzzi is on the radar of various MAC schools, Georgia’s D-line coach might get the Auburn job.
- U-M fans are waiting to hear whether RB Sam McGuffie will return to Ann Arbor for his sophomore season. After Michigan’s rough 2008, it’s easy to forget what a prized recruit McGuffie was. Here’s a Sports Illustrated story published while McGuffie was in high school.
Today’s schedule:
- NHL: Calgary at Detroit, 7:30pm
