High Five: Go Eagles!

Welcome back to the High Five:

  • There’s something to watch for in this weekend’s NFL games other than the Lions putting the finishing touches on 0-16. If the Dallas Cowboys don’t make the playoffs, the positions of the draft picks that the Lions got in the Roy Williams trade will improve significantly. Here’s how Dallas’ playoff fate shakes down. The Cowboys finish on the road against the resurgent Eagles.
  • MSU freshman WR Fred Smith, perhaps the top recruit in last year’s class, may be the Spartans’ secret weapon against Georgia.
  • With various MAC jobs filling up, it looks like the Mark Dantonio coaching tree won’t be growing this year. But that’s good news for Michigan State, because its coaching staff will remain intact. It’s especially helpful to recruiting
  • UM QB recruit Tate Forcier talks about Shavodrick Beaver’s decommitment and says there’s still a competition for the starter’s role. But from a marketing standpoint, is it even possible for Rich Rodriguez to start Steven Threet on opening day?
  • If this story finds its way into the hands of the next Antoine Walker, consider him signed, sealed and delivered for John Beilein and Michigan.

Today’s schedule:

  • NBA: Oklahoma City at Detroit, 8pm
  • NHL: Detroit at Nashville, 8pm
