High Five: Sloooow news day

Today’s High Five:

  • Dylan at U-M Hoops is experimenting with hockey-style plus-minus statistics in his evaluation of Michigan’s basketball team.
  • MSU hosts Ohio State tonight, and it is the Mitten’s deep and enduring pleasure to introduce you to this blog by Ohio State player Mark Titus. It is genius.
  • More serious news, and also seriously good news, for Spartan fans: Raymar Morgan is learning to focus.
  • Lee at Tiger Tales analyzes the Tigers’ defensive skills, position by position. No shockers so far: Carlos Guillen is okay, Placido Polanco is good, Miguel Cabrera not so good. Remember when Cabrera was the third baseman? When you see his range ranked in the lower tier of first basemen, the switch looks like a no-brainer.
  • Lynn Henning takes time out from his misguided crusade to convince the Lions to draft a quarterback, and points out that time is running short for the Tigers to sign a closer. Maybe there’s something to the Nate Robertson speculation.

Today’s schedule:

  • College basketball: Ohio State at Michigan State, 7pm
  • NHL: Columbus at Detroit, 7:30pm
