High Five: Pre-post primer

Today’s High Five is a precursor to a post on the Lions’ coaching search that I’ll put up a little later. So first:
- The weekend’s NFL games broke well for the Lions, meaning that most of their candidates’ teams lost and are now available for interviews.
- Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz is in Detroit today for a second interview. And Ron Rivera will likely get a first interview.
- But while you can still expect that Giants DC Steve Spagnuolo will get a head coaching job, it’s not likely to be in Detroit.
- SI’s Peter King says it’s coming down to Schwartz and Minnesota DC Leslie Frazier.
- Schwartz would be a popular pick with the Sabermetricians and tempo-free devotees: the New York Times calls his approach “Moneyball for the shoulder-pad set.”
Today’s schedule:
- NHL: Detroit at Dallas, 8pm (Versus)
